The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya light novel: official english translation

29032009022

Ah, nothing like reading Haruhi on a Barnes & Noble while sipping on a good latte and browsing 4chan on your macbook pro for maximum hipster weeaboo points.

Got this thing today, woo. I was browsing a haruhi imageboard today, someone mentioned they got theirs, so I checked Barnes & Noble’s website to see if I could get it. It showed they had it on stock, and that the store was open until 9pm, plus it was only ~$10, so why the heck not? Plus the thing isn’t supposed to be out yet, so that’s gotta be worth mentioning.

For the translation, it’s rather good, I’ve only read 3 chapters but there was nothing out of place on it yet, compared to the baka-tsuki translation.

Noteworthy things: Kyon thinks Asakura is a “hottie” (lol), the summary on the back of the book says Kyon sits behind Haruhi (fail) and Kyon mentions that “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” (awesome).

Anyway, eating nothing but a taco for lunch + coffee + reading stuff on the bus back = sick me. Gonna go get something to eat or I’ll pass out.

Clannad ~After Story~ Episode 24

aw

aw

Summary episode, Tomoya is telling Ushio the tl;dr version of his life story, including the alt omfg they’re dead time line once she’s asleep. After he finishes you see he’s together with Ushio and Fuuko under that tree next to the hospital (:o).

Impressions: Nothing really new in this episode as it was a summary, but I was expecting to see more Nagisa, when she calls them out to leave. lol.

But yes, Clannad is over, beautiful anime adapted from a beautiful visual novel. Definitely on my top 3.

(/me gets back to praying for a Fujibayashi sisters’ arc OVA)

Toradora! Episode 25

No "enjoy your x" captio, just :3s

No "enjoy your x" caption, just :3s

Aw, what an excellent episode. First they fixed Ryuuji’s family relationship, which was cool. Then they’re all coming back going “yay” and whatnot, which is when Taiga realizes: she’s won’t “break” what was happening, as she believed it would happen. She’s determined to fix her family’s relationship too, and so she goes after them, leaving a note. Then back at school everybody’s sad that Taiga’s gone, Minori even slaps Ryuuji for letting her leave which was totally awesome. The class then wants to find Taiga’s Christmas tree star for some reason. During the search there’s a great Ami scene too, she comes to terms about why Taiga is how she is, and how she’s how she is. And if she can have someone who understands her, it doesn’t matter if it’s not love. They find the star, take a pic with it, then montage time with everybody coming to terms with Taiga leaving. Things working out, etc. Roll credits. End.

Okay, that’s when I was totally like the D: smiley.

But aha! There’s more.  With the credits song playing, they’re on their graduation ceremony. Everybody’s gossiping about how the school is awesome and it’s full of pretty cool guys (which are small and bring luck and doesn’t afraid of anything) when Ryuuji sees Taiga’s hair on the window of his class. He runs to see her, with the same lines from the first episode going on (:3), but she’s not there. He opens the locker (the same locker she tried to hide in after putting the love letter in Ryuuji’s bag.) and there she is. It’s :3, there is a small amount of chit chat, then Ryuuji tells her he loves her, she gets totally embarrassed, and there’s more :3s. True end.

Thoughts about the episode? First, it was very :3, not ecchi, not melodramatic, just the right amount of :3. Second, cell phones played a huge part in it, during the star segment, which is awesome. Third, it needed more tension during the scene at the Takasu house, they were sleeping together for god’s sake! Fourth: It deviated a little from the Novel’s end, which was a good way to invalidate any spoilers I might have read. Bonus impression: going to America for college really is big in Japan eh? Kinda makes me feel bad for wasting my opportunities here :P

But it was such a nice conclusion, it made me a little sad. Everybody has come to terms to whatever their conflict was. I really can’t think of a better way to end it. Why I’m sad? There definitely won’t be a second season. :P (Unless Yuyuko Takemiya writes more novels with new drama, I’d be okay with that, as long as it isn’t set up on an alternate universe or something. Let me have my Ryuuji x Taiga plz.)

Anyway, :3~

Oh my god it’s a lion!

Lucky☆Star doujinshi

Enjoy whatever you're staring at, Tsukasa's P702i~

Enjoy whatever you're staring at, Tsukasa's P702i~

My sunday was spent downloading and reading Lucky☆Star doujinshi, it all started with browsing an imageboard, following a link to Lonely Kagamin, then following links and google searches to the Raki-Suta imageboard, leading to finding out there’s a huge Konata x Kagami fan base (!!!).

My favorite so far is Kona Kaga by Eunos press, and the derived 4komas, it’s really neat. Not really porn, their personalities match the anime characters pretty well but you still see how Kagami loves Konata (and how Konata takes advantage of this :P).

Anyway, go download them!

Tomoyo After – Dear Shining Memories Manga

Stop running and enjoy your Tomoyo, Tomoya.

Stop running and enjoy your Tomoyo, Tomoya.

Woo 5am post. Nothing to do tonight and I couldn’t sleep, plus a thread made me remember about Tomoyo, so I felt like looking for and reading the Tomoyo After manga. I wish the game was fully translated, but at the same time I don’t. Cheapening the story with an eroge ftl.

On the story itself, it was kinda weak. First were the niceties when Tomoyo was still in school and they were walking around, solving people’s troubles, enjoying life etc. But that was just Tomoyo’s memories, because she’s actually on the hospital remembering about the good times, as Tomoya was on a car crash 3 years ago and loses his memories once in a while, therefore forgetting about Tomoyo (which is why he’s running on that pic :P). But then he decides to get the risky operation to get his memories back (wait what? lol japanese medicine). He gets the memories then dies. lol forced emotion.

Maybe it’s because I don’t like manga, maybe it’s because I read too fast, maybe because it is the adaptation of an eroge plot (lol), but I didn’t enjoy it as I wanted to. Clannad is all about the [cliché, but] wonderfully enjoyable plot.

Also not counting one page, the other Clannad characters didn’t appear, not cool.

But yeah, it’s short, you should go read it if you like Clannad, just because.

Enjoy your extreme european ironing, Sunohara.

After last night/this morning’s sub drama with Toradora! it was nice just waking up and finding the right torrent with good subs ready for download.

Anyway, about the episode: It wasn’t exactly what I expected from last preview, but still was quite enjoyable, we see Tomoya/Sunohara in the second year doing what they do best: wasting time around. We get to see how Kyou met them (and how Okazaki is such a nice guy, lol), how he doesn’t call her Fujibayashi, and even the “start” of Kyou’s love for him. (which, taking in account what happens later (at least in the nagisa arc) was quite bad for Kyou, poor thing.) And we even get a glimpse of the Fujibayashi estate (bath scene FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, lol japs and their green water/green tea) as Ryou catches the first drifts of Kyou not hating Okazaki.

On Nagisa’s side, however, I didn’t get nearly enough of what I expected. She bumped into Okazaki while looking at the class she was assigned to, she saw them running around (lol),  but no real interaction. Until the prank, Okazaki/Sunohara make a Kusudama (y’know, that party ball thingy from Super Smash Bros. this thing.) with a metal pot thing inside (wtf?) which no one seemed to fall for, until Nagisa (a senior, even) pulled the string and took a hit from the falling pot. This causes her to faint, but when waking up, she sees a girl that wanted to talk to her. So long story short, they become friends thanks to Okazaki’s prank. And to always remember that, Nagisa saves the banner that Okazaki wrote as it was the thing that encouraged her, foreshadowing the following relationship. (Does it count as foreshadowing if we already saw the result? :P)

In conclusion, this was a nice episode in a awww, and in a “they were meant to be!!11one” kinda way, but it wasn’t that cool for people (like me) wanting to see more of the Okazakis’ relationship. But it’s all good.

Also next week’s episode is gonna be a summary of the series D: They should have used the extra episode to make an alternative universe animation… Kyou’s game route > Tomoyo’s.

Toradora! Episode 24

toradora-24-large-18
Enjoy your flying Taiga, Ryuuji.

So, I just watched Toradora! episode 24. Twice. I really could not get everything that happened in this episode in one go. And to add to the drama, the release I got was this one, by a group called CGS, which supposedly stands for CoalGuys Suck. I have no idea about what happens in the backstage of fansubbing, but this was kinda weird. In my opinion, CoalGuys releases the best translations for Toradora, and this CGS release had some really weird lines. As in “That damn geezer ran away when he failed his classes.” when they’re supposedly talking about Taiga’s father going bankrupt.

Now about the episode itself. After quite a few dragged out episodes, bang, everything happened at once on 24. Catching up, parents drama, confession, plan to run away, support from friends, classmates missing them, and even Ryuuji’s grandparents are shown.

Plus according to people that read the novel, there was supposed to be a kiss, and I can guarantee that I saw no kiss there, >( JCStaff.

But brb, watching the CoalGuys release (lol timing, it literally came out while I was writing this) will update the post later :3

Update 1: Well, lol drama. Haters gonna hate, etc. Still, <3 CoalGuys

Update 2: Jesus H Christ it all makes sense now. I’ll never watch crappy releases just because I can’t wait again. Seriously. So that all happened in one night, and Yasuko was fast, and and and omfg Taiga! And lol families, you’re not Clannad, Toradora, so don’t try. Lots of things happened, but now I was able to get them. Taiga being honest to herself, awesome. I still wanted to see the kiss though, :(

Can’t wait for the next episode~

(and now, to wait for Clannad After Story 23, :3)

F1rst p0st: Saya no Uta

accord

So as this blog will be about whatever I’m doing, thought I’d start with the latest visual novel I’m playing: Saya no Uta. It’s a weird erotic slash gore slash love story VN, very interesting, very enjoyable, but really screwed up. I mean, seriously.

Guts, blood, killing sprees, rape, cannibalism, tentacle rape, monster tentacle rape (combo!), sadism, treating other “girls” as pets, people playing god with the human race, etc. (plus Saya looks quite young, though considering the plot I don’t think that’s relevant :P)

But, if you ignore this kinda things (and there’s a LOT to ignore, if you want to do it), you’ll see a very romantic story. True love and how it changes people, how being lonely can be one of the worst things that can happen to someone, and so on.

tl;dr: awesome? yes. will I play it again after I finish it? heck no, it’s TOO screwed up.

Also, the picture is one of the in-game CGs. Yes, that’s a Honda Accord, and they make sure you don’t forget about it.

blah blah blog

So, 3rd attempt at a personal blog. Had one about irl stuff, it became serious business and it closed, have one about my hobby, I kinda went professional and I can’t post off topic stuff anymore. I’m making this one about my internet life, with a focus on whatever I’m obsessing about at the moment (be it anime, house, lost, some new musician, etc)

Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up.
