Aw, what an excellent episode. First they fixed Ryuuji’s family relationship, which was cool. Then they’re all coming back going “yay” and whatnot, which is when Taiga realizes: she’s won’t “break” what was happening, as she believed it would happen. She’s determined to fix her family’s relationship too, and so she goes after them, leaving a note. Then back at school everybody’s sad that Taiga’s gone, Minori even slaps Ryuuji for letting her leave which was totally awesome. The class then wants to find Taiga’s Christmas tree star for some reason. During the search there’s a great Ami scene too, she comes to terms about why Taiga is how she is, and how she’s how she is. And if she can have someone who understands her, it doesn’t matter if it’s not love. They find the star, take a pic with it, then montage time with everybody coming to terms with Taiga leaving. Things working out, etc. Roll credits. End.
Okay, that’s when I was totally like the D: smiley.
But aha! There’s more. With the credits song playing, they’re on their graduation ceremony. Everybody’s gossiping about how the school is awesome and it’s full of pretty cool guys (which are small and bring luck and doesn’t afraid of anything) when Ryuuji sees Taiga’s hair on the window of his class. He runs to see her, with the same lines from the first episode going on (:3), but she’s not there. He opens the locker (the same locker she tried to hide in after putting the love letter in Ryuuji’s bag.) and there she is. It’s :3, there is a small amount of chit chat, then Ryuuji tells her he loves her, she gets totally embarrassed, and there’s more :3s. True end.
Thoughts about the episode? First, it was very :3, not ecchi, not melodramatic, just the right amount of :3. Second, cell phones played a huge part in it, during the star segment, which is awesome. Third, it needed more tension during the scene at the Takasu house, they were sleeping together for god’s sake! Fourth: It deviated a little from the Novel’s end, which was a good way to invalidate any spoilers I might have read. Bonus impression: going to America for college really is big in Japan eh? Kinda makes me feel bad for wasting my opportunities here :P
But it was such a nice conclusion, it made me a little sad. Everybody has come to terms to whatever their conflict was. I really can’t think of a better way to end it. Why I’m sad? There definitely won’t be a second season. :P (Unless Yuyuko Takemiya writes more novels with new drama, I’d be okay with that, as long as it isn’t set up on an alternate universe or something. Let me have my Ryuuji x Taiga plz.)
Anyway, :3~
