Even the hardcover one!

So I was in a Borders today, and they had the second Haruhi novel before the October 7th street date, just as they did with The Melancholy, both the paperback and the hardcover one. Just a heads up??? (Didn’t get it, was running out of expendable cash and got Mirai Nikki Vol. 1 instead. I feel like I betrayed my god.)

Yes! It’s your favorite time of the week/month, update time! But today’s post have a twist. Only new manga I haven’t mentioned before, so you won’t see me going WOAH CHAPTER 276 of To Love Ru yeeeah (If I did read TLR) (lol the ending).

As always I have awful memory, so I’ll be going thru my myanimelist.net profile to see what series I started.

Suzunari! – I hadn’t heard about this series, and apparently scanlating groups haven’t either! I’ve seen it mentioned in a Kanamemo thread (same mangaka), found the first volume (scanned from the Yen Press release) in Manga Fox, read it, really liked it, and couldn’t find more. It rarely happens, but I gave up and bought the second volume on Amazon.

As I said, I really liked it. It’s a loli yuri catgirl twincest 4koma (5 weeaboo term chain combo!) mostly, but there’s an overarching (sad!) plot. The ending is kinda bittersweet. Just as Kanamemo, it’s joyful with a hint of sadness and loss in the background. Count me as a Shoko Iwami fan!

Seishun Pop! – So this kid is a freshman in high school living alone. He does have a respectable harem already, but of course, is too much of a wuss to roll with it. Apparently he’s in love with the vocals of his favorite band? With that in mind, he goes to the first concert of said band and all of a sudden the singer girl (which is conveniently the new transfer student in his school) walks down the stage and hugs him.

There are 3 chapters scanlated, and so far it’s all the loli interest hitting on him, the librarian falling on him and the main sister/singer being awfully close and doing all the siblings thing (sleeping in the same bed, dropping the towel when coming out of the bath etc). You can tell where this is going, but it sounds like it’ll be a pleasant journey. (Nothing “serious” happened until now, just fyi.)

Manabiya – So this kid is also a high school freshman (lol), and his father suddenly remarries, giving him free time to do stuff. He is encouraged to join a club, but doesn’t really have many interests, except for taking pix. (ﾟ∀ﾟ) He accidentally takes two photos of this girl at two different times, and convinces her to join the photography club with him. (ﾟ∀ﾟ) That’s when the new, clumsy student that has no idea about what to do (ﾟ∀ﾟ) gets there, becoming a friend real fast.

Once there, they meet the other members, lots of guys and girls! That alone just adds the possibility of lots of intercharacter development, which is awesome. Of course I’m still rooting for the first girl shown, she seem like she’s hiding something, which would give way to awesome development there too. As long as the main dude isn’t a wuss, this will go on fine.

Five chapters scanlated, I’m betting this one will go far, but I like that prospect.

Tetsunagi Kooni and Two Smiling Faces, or, Aoki Ume – You might know Aoki Ume for being the Mangaka for Hidamari Sketch, apparently I really like her X’_____________’ art style! So naturally I go searching for stuff by her, and find those.

First one, Tetsunagi Kooni, is a short slice of life type thingy. This girl is coming back home from school, sees an Oni girl in the middle of the road fainted, and offers her some avocados. From there we have a cute, 6 page per chapter average story about the Oni girl not knowing about the human world, with the girl teaching her stuff. Eventually making the Oni girl forget about her hate of humans. (apparently they killed her mother?) Cute but pointless.

The second, Two Smiling Faces, is a 6 page oneshot by Ume-sensei. This couple is dating, but suddenly the girl falls ill, she can’t feel sadness anymore. Trying to do so only leaves her with a pained face. The boyfriend is initially uncomfortable, but after he’s run over by a car, and wakes up to a still smiling girl, they decide they’ll never stop smiling. Daaaww.

Brocon!? – Anthology of brother complex stories, as you can tell by the title! What impressed me the most was the variety of endings, from the couple scanlated chapters we had a they get together ending, a she grows out of it ending and a the dude’s scared of the sister ending!

Koi Neko – Yes! More cat girls! This manga, if you excuse the awful comparison, is a lot like Kanokon. The dude is super nice with cats and stuff, letting them even enter his room. Turns out one of the cats, the one he gave a ribbon to, could transform herself into a girl. Unlike Kanokon, which focused on lolboobs, this focuses on the sweet antics of a slightly shy kid and a catgirl that doesn’t know much about life. The jealousy, the pushiness, all that good stuff.

Plus the art is awesome

As with all love stories, a rival also appears, and the more he tries to be a nice guy in trying to dismiss them, the more they fall in love with him. They also have to hide this whole “cats can turn into girls” thing from the rest of humanity and all. Dare I say that this is my favorite new discovery, the female characters are adorable, the art is cool (Mix of Hayate and Lucky Star?), and our bro isn’t (completely) a wuss, pushing his girlfriend down at least once! On going series that I really hope goes on for long. (and hope he gets a proper end)

Finally, yes! Those were the new ones, I just want to add that even though I picked those series, I’m not a huuuge catgirl or incest fan, just, dunno. I pick manga for the antics. (lol) Now, while I wait for subs, I’ll go start Mel Kano. It looks interesting from the first chapter, but this is material for a next post, for when I catch up with it!

So one day I was refreshing TT for subs (subs where, btw), when I came across a torrent for I Love You​.​.​. – English teaser. I was bored and had bandwidth to spare, so I gave it a go just to see what was that. You can see the trailer embedded above.

I don’t really know much about the plot this, but from what I saw, it looks pretty good!

A love story set on realistic russian locations? Sounds pretty cool to me! And you know I’m a sucker for realistic cars. :P Searching for it didn’t find much stuff, aside from the trailer and the creator’s livejournal. (!) (Where he mentions casting using the Windows Sound Recorder! +1 indie points)

Can’t read much of russian, and don’t want to spoil myself with wacky google translation. So dunno, this post is part a reminder to look at the full thing when it comes out, part a little publicity for this OVA. Gotta promote indie projects like this!
